Salah’s potential move to Besiktas
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been the subject of transfer speculation, with Turkish club Besiktas reportedly making an offer. Despite claims from a Turkish journalist suggesting an agreement had been reached, both Salah’s agent and Besiktas have denied such reports.
According to journalist Yağız Saffunçuoğlu, Besiktas made an initial offer to Salah. Saffunçuoğlu also reported that Salah, who had an initial annual salary expectation, lowered these expectations for a potential transfer to Besiktas. The journalist further stated that negotiations were ongoing regarding contract duration and image rights.
However, Ramy Abbas Issa, Salah’s agent, posted on X that the player’s next club is still unknown, though an announcement might be made soon. Besiktas issued a statement refuting the claims of an agreement, describing the reports as “entirely fictional” and accusing the journalist of spreading fabricated information.
Besiktas emphasised that official transfer information would only be shared through their own communication channels, urging the public not to trust unverified reports.
Romano’s update on Salah’s transfer situation
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the situation, suggesting that Besiktas did indeed make an offer for Salah. Romano indicated that Besiktas might be maintaining discretion until a comprehensive agreement is finalised, which is a common practice before a deal is completed.
Romano explained that Besiktas’ denial of the rumours could be attributed to the fact that a deal for Salah has not yet been completed. He noted that clubs often exercise caution before finalising agreements.
Salah has reportedly received offers from other leagues, including Major League Soccer and clubs in Saudi Arabia. This suggests that Besiktas is one of several potential destinations for the former Liverpool player.
In March, Liverpool had announced an agreement to allow Salah to leave Anfield at the end of the season to pursue new opportunities. Salah’s financial demands are reportedly a factor for some Saudi clubs, with reports suggesting they are hesitant due to his salary expectations.
The forward, who is 34, continues to keep his next move private as various offers are considered from different leagues.
