London clubs pursue transfer targets as Arsenal plot Rogers bid and Man Utd medical booked

Transfer news LIVE: Arsenal plot huge Rogers bid; Man Utd medical booked - London Evening Standard

Arsenal’s transfer priorities and other dealings

Arsenal are reportedly preparing a substantial opening offer for Morgan Rogers, who has been identified as a primary transfer target. The Aston Villa and England player is said to be receptive to a move to North London, despite interest from Manchester United. Reports suggest that a fee exceeding £100m or £80m would be necessary for Aston Villa to consider his departure. Rogers, who featured for England in the World Cup, is capable of playing on the left flank and in midfield.

The Gunners have also reportedly been offered the opportunity to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, a player also targeted by Tottenham. However, Arsenal are said to have been deterred by Tonali’s reported wage demands. Additionally, Arsenal are understood to be preparing a second bid for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, following the rejection of an initial £55m offer. There are conflicting reports regarding a potential release clause in Guimaraes’s contract, with some sources suggesting a £60m clause exists, while others at Newcastle deny its presence.

In other developments, Arsenal have reportedly secured the permanent signing of Piero Hincapie for £35m. The club is also said to be pursuing a £10m deal for Leicester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga, and are considering a move for Celta Vigo defender Oscar Mingueza, whose contract is set to expire. Furthermore, Arsenal have reportedly been offered Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis, who could be available for around £35m.

Manchester United and Chelsea’s transfer activities

Manchester United have scheduled a medical for Cristian Orozco, a teenage player from Fortaleza CEIF in Bogota. An agreement for his transfer to Old Trafford was reached last year, and he is expected to travel to the UK for medical tests before his official announcement. Orozco, a defensive midfielder, is a captain for Colombia at youth level.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have reportedly made an initial offer for Granit Xhaka, which was rejected by Sunderland. Sunderland considers the midfielder not for sale, despite suggestions that he wishes to return to London. Chelsea are also increasing their interest in Maxence Lacroix and are eyeing Pep Chavarria as a potential replacement for Marc Cucurella. Marco Palestra is expected to finalise his move to Stamford Bridge as the first new arrival of the Xabi Alonso era.

Liverpool and other club movements

Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Bradley Barcola after a setback in their pursuit of Yan Diomande. Diomande is said to prefer a move to Paris Saint-Germain, with whom he reportedly has an agreement on personal terms. Liverpool had previously secured Victor Munoz from Osasuna earlier this month.

In other transfer news, Barcelona have reportedly approached Harry Kane’s representatives regarding a potential move after the World Cup, though Kane is said to be keen on extending his contract with Bayern Munich. Barcelona are seeking a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who is set to join MLS club Chicago Fire as a free agent. Eli Junior Kroupi has reportedly indicated Paris Saint-Germain as his preferred destination should he leave Bournemouth this summer.

Tottenham are reportedly confident of signing Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali, despite reports that Tonali would prefer to join Arsenal. Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford is reportedly prepared to take a pay cut to join Tottenham this summer. Bayern Munich and Tottenham are both interested in Juventus defender Bremer, but the player is reportedly content to remain in Turin.
